Is iMoney App A Scam Or Legit? How To Make Money For Testing Apps

I’m constantly looking for more ways to make money online. It’s fun and rewarding.

Probably I can call money making apps one of my hobbies, along with reading books and baking cookies.

Recently, I downloaded several new apps and I’m going to share them with you, once the first payment from each app lands in my account.

Today I offer you my iMoney App review. This app allows you to make money by downloading and testing apps from the Apple App Store. All you need is an iPhone and a US phone number.

My iMoney review contains exclusive information provided by amazing Michelle Moore – the admin of the official iMoney Facebook group. Michelle also runs her own FB group “Helping You To Make & Save Money” that you can join.

At this point, iMoney is available to iPhone users only.  Android fans don’t have an option to get it, unfortunately.

The great thing for the new users of this app is that you can make $5 – $10 in the first day or two and immediately cash out to your PayPal account. In the following days, fewer tasks will be available, so don’t be surprised.

Let’s make it clear – this is not a way to make a full income from home. It’s just an additional source of extra money you can earn in your spare time or parallel to your other daily tasks. I estimate that you can make about $20 per month with the iMoney app alone.

In the beginning, the iMoney app may be a bit confusing. No worries – I’m here to help and provide you with the detailed user guide and my best tips on how to make the most of the iMoney app.

What Is iMoney?

App Store is a very competitive space. There are millions of apps available and eager to get your attention. The search model for apps in the App Store works the same way as Google search for questions or Amazon search for products. The user enters the keyword and gets the list of relevant apps, ordered by their popularity and relevancy.

There is a constant battle between the apps’ creators for the highest ranking for each keyword. Being on the top of search results means more downloads and more revenue. That’s why the creators are willing to pay for boosting their rank. Easy to say but how to create the buzz?

Some apps are difficult to market in social media and their marketing budget gets high.

iMoney helps new apps to get discovered and existing apps to keep ranking high. iMoney gets potential users to search for the right keyword in the App Store and download the promoted app, signaling Apple that this specific app is the right choice for the desired keyword. When Apple notices the user’s interest in the app, its ranking raises and it will show higher in the search results in the future.

I’ve seen similar paid tasks of downloading an app in big and well-established platforms like Swagbucks. iMoney is unique by its specific focus on this type of tasks only.

iMoney was founded by Chinese entrepreneurs more than a year ago and became popular for the easiness of making money with your phone. Their partner in the US is ASOIMONEY LTD and it’s registered in Boulder, CO, United States. iMoney has a US bank account through this partner.

In China, iMoney has over 100 employees who work on marketing and getting more apps to use their service. I’ve seen apps from big names, like Fox News and UPS, among my tasks till now.

Getting a new app into the App Store is a difficult process, involving a lot of time, money and approvals from Apple. For Chinese companies, it’s almost impossible to pass the inspection. Therefore, they often just buy an existing app “shell” that is not active anymore.

iMoney bought several app shells, like the “Days Taker”, “Bee Gather” and “DouHiring” apps, and uses them as a “front door” to their own app. The original icon and description in the Appstore can’t be changed, but don’t get confused by it. When you open this app, it’ll take you to iMoney.

How Does the iMoney app work?  The Full Guide

Now, let me walk you through the iMoney app step by step and show how to make money from downloading and testing apps.

Download the iMoney App

First of all, you need to download the app to your iPhone.  You must be US or Canada resident to use this app (for Canadians, some of the tasks might not work, as not every app available in the US Appstore will show up in Canadian store).

As explained above, the name of the app in the Appstore is Days Taker,  (it was Bee Gather and DouHiring app before) and the icon looks like this:

I know it’s confusing. The information in the App Store still describes the old Days Taker, DouHiring and Bee Gather apps. This cannot be changed when someone buys the shell. Just ignore the description and download it

Sign Up with iMoney

Once you have downloaded and opened the app, you need to provide your US phone number. It will be verified via text message with a PIN. This is to help iMoney filter fake users from countries like Vietnam who try to create iPhone farms and abuse the system.

You also need a valid PayPal account information (e-mail).

Accept Tasks

Once you are registered, open your app and you’ll be able to see a list of tasks, like this:

 

In your first day or two, there will be many tasks, as you’ll get all currently available tasks on your list. Every task can be completed only once. Other iMoney users have completed them already. In the following days, you’ll get only a few new tasks. The number of tasks every day depends on the new contracts iMoney manages to secure and it can be volatile over time.

Each task shows the number of available spots for this time.

When you attempt to make your first task, you’ll be asked to install a configuration profile. This is required to verify that you are a legitimate US-based iPhone user. Follow the instructions given by the app. You won’t be able to use iMoney without doing this.

Click on the big blue “OK” button.

Click on “Allow”

Click on “Close”. You’ll be taken to the next screen. If not, go to  Settings –> General –> About –> Certificate Trust Settings.

Click on “Install”

You can see that this profile certificate is used for the legality checking of your Apple device.

Configuration profiles have a negative reputation as they can download data from your phone.

Therefore, to be on the safe side, I recommend that you remove this profile immediately after iMoney confirms your legibility.

Go to Settings –> General –> About –> Certificate Trust Settings and delete it.

What Types Of Tasks iMoney Has To Offer?

There are three types of app-related tasks I’ve seen: download, pre-order and review.

All the tasks are super easy and don’t require your full attention all the time. You can keep doing whatever you are doing anyway. For example, I can check for available tasks on my way downstairs to wake up the kids or in the middle of the day at the office. I just prefer doing it when WiFi is available for faster download.

The apps you get to test can be from many different types:

• Games like bingo, solitaire, and domino.
• Instagram followers tracking
• Meditation, white noise
• News
• Image editors
• Math for kids
• Word puzzles
• And much much more

Task #1 – Download, Open for 3 minutes, Get Paid

This is the most common task that usually pays $0.23. All you have to do is accept the task and follow the instructions on the screen. You will see the icon that you need to find in the App Store and the estimated rank. Sometimes it’s in the first ten and easy to find. In some cases, the rank can be lower than 100, so it’ll be a lot of scrolling to do. The most important thing is to find the exact icon, as the ranking might change.

The task has a pre-defined time of completion of about 45 minutes, so don’t forget to finish it in time. Here is one of the open tasks I’ve got – Video Poker:

First, you’ll click on the “Go to App Store” button to copy the keyword and be transferred to the App Store. It will open up and you’ll see the search bar on the top. Tap in the bar till you see the “Paste” option and click on it. The keyword will be pasted in the bar. Now click on the “Search” button.

The list of apps will show up. Scroll till you find the required icon and click “Get”. Here is my Video Poker app in the App Store:

You’ll be asked to verify your downloading request by double-clicking on the power button and checking your FaceID (for iPhone XR model).

The process can vary for other iPhone models, but it’ll be the normal process you follow when you download anything from the store. The app will start loading. It can take from 30 seconds to 20-30 minutes, depending on the app’s size and your phone’s memory.

At this point, I stop looking at my phone and continue doing my other stuff, like making breakfast or preparing documents at the office.

Once the app is fully downloaded, don’t click on the icon! Instead, go back to the iMoney window and click on the “Open the App” button. It will automatically open the app for you.

If you have downloaded a wrong app by mistake, you’ll get a notification about it. You don’t have to do anything in the app. Just keep it open for 3 minutes at least. Of course, you can check the app if you want. I’ve got some funny apps to test. One of them added a beard to my selfies, so I could imagine how I would look like as a man.

Go back to the iMoney window. You’ll see that the last button turned into a timer that counts 3 minutes.

Once it reaches zero, the button will turn to “Get Money”. Click on it and get the reward added to your account.

Task #2 – Pre-Order, Send Screenshot

For this type of task, the first step is the same: you copy the keyword and look for the app in the AppStore. However, you wouldn’t be able to download it, as it’s not released yet. This task pays $0.3.

Instead of “Get”, you will see a “Pre-order” button. When you click it, the “View” button will show up. Take a screenshot of it (for iPhone XR, you need to press on the top right power button and the left up button at the same time).

Upload the screenshot into the second step of the iMoney window and click “submit”.

This task will not be credited immediately. It can take a day or two to get verified and added to your account balance.

Task #3 – Post A Review Task (or Comment task)

This task has a $0.3 reward as well. It requires you to copy the title and content and paste it as a review of an app in the App Store. The review task is quite rare, compared to the simple download tasks.

You’ll need to download the app, create a review with the content provided, take the screenshot of this review (before hitting “submit”) and upload it to iMoney.

Personally, I don’t like and don’t accept this type of task. It feels too fake to post somebody else’s words as my own when I didn’t even try the app. It’s up to you whether you want to participate.

Additional tasks

Recently, some more tasks have been added: Questionaire and Bet game. I don’t recommend doing them.

Questionaire tasks is for $0.01 only and it will take you to third party surveys that will ask you to provide email address. Giving out this information can cause a flood of spam in your email box.

The Bet game is just the Rock, Paper, Scissors game and you can loose your bet. 

iMoney Referral Program

To boost your earnings with iMoney, you can invite your friends to join. For each friend who finishes the first task, you’ll get $1 credit. If the friend continues to complete more tasks, you’ll earn $0.5 per task up to the $10 per friend.

To find your referral link, click on the middle icon in the bottom menu of the app.

This referral program is very generous and for a reason. iMoney is in constant need of new users as each task can be only done once. If the same app wants to keep the high rating or boost it more, it needs NEW users to do this task. Existing users only can get brand new tasks.

How To Cash Out With iMoney (Bee Gather/DouHiring)

Once you have more than $5 in your account (and it will probably happen after 1-2 days of using the app), you can request a payment. At this point, your account will have to be verified.

The first step will be the phone number verification with a PIN sent to your phone

Click on the “Get” button in the right bottom corner. If you don’t see the SMS, click on “Resend” that will show up there. Sometimes it takes two times.

As the second step, you’ll need to upload a picture of yourself and your official ID, like a driving license. You can take a picture of yourself holding the license and kill to birds in one shot. If you feel uncomfortable, you can black out some of the information like your full home address or license number. iMoney just needs to know you are a legal US resident.

iMoney requests this verification to protect itself from foreign abusers. It already happened that some Vietnamese folks bought phones and used VPN to pose as US residents and get paid.

Payment Options to Cash out with iMoney

There are two payment options: PayPal ($5 or $25) and Amazon Gift Card ($10 or $50).

Payment processing takes up to 48 hours but occasionally can be more. PayPal can hold the money for review (see below).

Payment Proof from iMoney

I reached the payout threshold on my second day after signing up with iMoney. When trying a new app, it’s important to get confident that it really pays and not wastes your time. We all know that there are too many scams out there and the sooner you find out, the better.

That’s why I immediately asked for a $5 PayPal payment and it arrived very quickly.

Notice that iMoney actually sent me $5.54 but PayPal charged $0.54 as a fee, so my credit was exactly $5.

 

There is one more thing to note about PayPal payments from iMoney. It probably won’t be immediately released to your account. PayPal would like to check whether it’s legitimate as with other payments from China. You are likely to receive the email with the following wording:

Don’t panic! There is nothing wrong with PayPal’s review of the payment coming from China. You don’t need to do anything. Just wait a day or two and the payment will be cleared and added to your account balance.

iMoney Customer Service

From my experience, iMoney has very friendly customer support. You can write to them at contactus@aiyingli.com or on the Facebook group that you can join via the app itself.

Click on the right icon in the bottom menu and then choose “Help and Feedback” or “Join FB Group”.

Once, I had a task that got stuck and didn’t credit me. I emailed support and received a reply after several hours from Elena Shi.

Here is an example of support provided via the iMoney Facebook group. You can see that it’s provided on time and helps to resolve technical issues.

How To Make The Most With iMoney App?

iMoney app is super easy but you need to follow a couple of rules to maximize your earnings.

#1 – Open the app and check for open tasks multiple times a day. It’s stated in the app that new tasks are released at 10 am EST and it’s true on many days. However, it’s not the only time. From my experience, tasks open up from 6 am to 10 pm EST, mostly around x:59 – x:00 on the clock.

For a better chance to get a new task, open the app at 9:59, 10:59, etc. Take into account that task release times may change though.

#2 – If you have multiple open tasks, pick the one with LESS available spots first. If the app downloads quickly, you’ll have a good chance to catch other tasks as well once you are done with the first.

#3 – Be patient! There will be days without any task and days with 3-5 tasks or more. The number of available tasks depends on the new contracts iMoney manages to get. There are slowdowns sometimes, as with any other business.

Why There Are Negative Reviews in Appstore and Low Rating?

First of all App Store calculates average rating since Bee Gather was a totally different app before iMoney purchased the shell.

But let’s look at some common complaints:

#1 Not enough tasks available

After the first 1-2 days, there wouldn’t be too many tasks for you every day. My average currently is around 2 tasks per day if I remember to check frequently. About $0.5 per day is about $15 per month. Still free money I like to get.

Michelle says that several months ago people could reach even $50-70 per month. It all depends on the number of currently running contracts and can be volatile.

In general, I think that people are expecting too much from a simple app. This is not a job! Just a fun way to make some extra income with your iPhone.

#2 Technical issues

If you change your phone or phone number you’ll need to get help from support and it can take some time. The tech team is located in China. The time difference can make it more difficult to communicate and resolve issues.

As an IT department employee, I can tell you that every application fails from time to time. There are issues that can’t be anticipated or prevented. We ask our users to be patient and let us fix the problems as soon as possible. The same goes for iMoney.

#3 Payment issues with PayPal

As mentioned above, PayPal needs to review payments from iMoney. The company cannot pay you as a “friend/family” as it would be a lie. The payment comes as “goods/services”, as you are kind of doing a service by completing the tasks. This is the reason for additional PayPal audits and it takes time. iMoney pays the fees to PayPal to get the payment processed. Sometimes there are issues or errors.

Please be patient and even if the payment was revoked, just request it again from support.

Is iMoney Legit Or Scam?

I guess that from reading my detailed review till now, you understand that my view of iMoney is favorable. Using the app becomes easy after 2-3 tasks and you can do it in parallel with anything else you are doing through the day.

I didn’t experience too many technical issues besides one broken task. My payments were processed by PayPal in several days.

In my opinion, it’s a legitimate money-making app and I enjoy using it. Some of the tested apps are indeed interesting finds that I didn’t know even exist.
