What Is Rebatee.com? Legit Free Amazon Products Or A Scam? Rebatee Review

If you ask me what the biggest online benefit I’ve got in 2019 is, I’d say – REBATES! Hundreds of totally free items were delivered to my house during the year. Most of this free stuff came from Amazon, where I bought it for full-price and was refunded later on via PayPal.

Many rebate sites offer 100% refunds from sellers who try to promote their products on Amazon, but not all these sites are safe to use.

The most important criterion to consider is the requirement to submit a consumer review on Amazon as a condition of getting a refund. Since 2016, Amazon banned paid reviews, so this is no longer a legitimate option for sellers looking to rank higher.

Rebatee.com is one of the sites that doesn’t require Amazon feedback (though you can leave one). In this Rebatee.com review, I’ll explain the business model behind this site and provide you with a guide on how to use it.

At the end of the review, I’ll list more websites similar to Rebatee, that I use and trust. Why not get freebies from many sources, right?

Spoiler: you can even MAKE MONEY on top of getting free stuff. I’ll save it for later in the post, be patient :-).

**UPDATE**

Unfortunately, Rebatee will be shut down on 6/15/2020. The coronavirus crisis made it impossible to attract sellers to this site.

No more products are offered. If you have a  balance,  please submit a request for the final payment.

What Is Rebatee.com?

Rebatee.com is a website that connects Amazon sellers with online shoppers and influencers.

Rebatee is a membership-based site. Its members get free useful products and can make money by participating in the Influencers Club. The sellers receive customer feedback that helps them to develop, improve and promote new products.

I’ve asked its customer service to get more information about the company, as I couldn’t find it on the website. I’ve got a friendly response on their Facebook chat and was provided with more background via email. There is no way to verify this information, but here is what I’ve got:

The company was founded in March 2019 and it is based in Hong Kong, China.  The owners are Frank and Wayne, who have some friends selling on Amazon. These friends always complained about how difficult it is to promote new products, so Wayne and Frank came up with the idea to build a platform to help sellers promote their products and help buyers save as well, of course, the most important point is they can make a profit from it. That’s why and how Rebatee come up. Currently, more than 10 people are working for Rebatee.

It’s always great to make sure there are humans behind the company and not only bots.

Why The Sellers Give Away Their Stuff On Rebatee?

Free Amazon products! Does it sound too good to be true? Why would someone send you their great stuff for free? What is the benefit they are getting out of it? It must be some sort of scam.

Well, of course, there is a good economic reason behind this.

The sellers are interested to push the ranking of their products up and get them to appear on the page’s top when a customer searches for the keyword on Amazon (for example, “toddler toys”).

Amazon prefers products with a high volume of full-price sales and good reviews. As I’ve mentioned before, to eliminate manipulations, Amazon banned paid reviews since 2016, so this is no longer a legitimate option for sellers looking to promote their products.

Rebatee.com doesn’t require buyers to submit an Amazon review. You only need to buy the product for its full price and get the promised rebate via PayPal.

In other words, the idea behind Rebatee.com is marketing. Every company has a marketing budget that can be spent in various creative ways – advertisements, discounts, social media campaigns, engaging celebrities (they get A LOT of free stuff, you bet).

For new sellers who try to build a brand on Amazon, giving away several items per day is part of their marketing strategy. In return, they get a proven volume of full-price sales on Amazon, customer reviews and spreading the world to buyer’s friends.

You probably can guess that the real cost of giving a free item to you is a fraction of the listed price, as most of these products are sold with a high margin.

Don’t feel bad that you’ve got a pair of sneakers for free. The seller didn’t pay $30 to make and ship it.

Think about the coupons you get by mail. Rebate is just a modern digital way to give a discount (sometimes of 100%) to new customers, as part of the promotion campaign.

The benefit for the sellers is derived from the registered sales volume. Also, many customers who like the products would leave a review or spread a good word to their friends. Unlike other sites, Rebatee.com offers the sellers YouTube unpacking videos created by its members, blog reviews, users’ honest feedback about the product and more unique benefits.

Rebatee.com handles the process for both sellers and buyers. Let me explain it in more detail.

How Does Rebatee Work?

First of all, let me walk you through the lifecycle of a rebate on Rebatee.com, so you can understand how it works for you as a buyer. Then we’ll see how you can make money, in addition to getting free stuff from Amazon.

Sign up with Rebatee

The signup process at Rebatee.com is very simple. Click on the button below:

Rebatee signup

You’ll be taken to a simple form to fill some basic information, like name and email address. Choose a password, fill the Captcha, click the checkboxes and submit.

Sign Up for Rebatee.com form

Once you complete the form, you’ll get a verification email. You’ll have to click the “Confirm Email” button within 48 hours to complete the registration. Then, you’ll receive a welcome email and can start shopping.

Your Rebatee account will be credited with 3,000 coins ($30) that can be used for securing rebates. We’ll see later how you can get more coins.

Look for rebates

Browse the list of available products. Here is a small sample to illustrate the variety: toys, household, electronics.

free Amazon products on Rebatee.com

When you see anything to your taste and it’s available for a price that’s less than your current coins balance, click on the green “Get Rebate” button at the bottom of the listing.

The price of the product will be deducted from your coins balance (100 coins = $1).

The inventory is refreshed every day at 7pm PST, so don’t be upset if an item is out of stock for today. Just check again tomorrow.

Purchase on Amazon

Follow the instructions and purchase the product on Amazon. There are two options: use the link to the product or play the game – find the product by yourself using the name and the description. If you find it, you’ll get 500 bonus coins.

You can pay Amazon with any method, as you would normally do. For free shipping, I recommend having Amazon Prime.

Don’t have Prime yet? If you never tried Amazon Prime before, you can sign up for 30-day Free Trial.

You will have 1 hour to complete the purchase and submit the order number back to Rebatee. Don’t miss the deadline!

Confirm Delivery

Once your product is delivered, come back to Rebatee.com, click on the “My Rebates” section of the left side menu and confirm the delivery.

The seller will approve the order within 3 business days. After the seller’s confirmation, the rebate amount will be added to your cash balance in Rebatee (go to “Coins and Cash” under your profile and check the Cash tab).

Withdraw Your Money

At the bottom of the Cash tab, there is a “Withdraw Money” button. As a new member, you’ll have 10 instant withdraw request to use, to build trust with Rebatee. Later on, you can withdraw once in 15 days. Limiting withdrawals saves processing time and PayPal fees.

First, register your PayPal account under the “Payout Accounts” tab. Then request a payment.

You will receive payment request confirmation like this:

Rebatee Payment note

PayPal rebate will be processed within 2 business days after application, while bank transfer (available for large amounts) will take 5-8 business days.

Here is my payment from PayPal:

You can see that Rebatee sent me the amount exactly matching the price of the item ($14.39). PayPal charged a $0.93 fee.

Earn More Coins

The initial $30 will soon be gone, once you order 1-2 products. How can you get more coins? There are several ways.

#1 Daily Check-In

Just login to your account, go to “My Profile” and click “Check-In”. You’ll get 30 coins every day. It’s not too much but very easy. Anyway, it’s worth to peak every day and see what new listings were added.

#2 Write A Review on Rebatee

The option to leave a review will show up under the “My Rebates” tab, once the order is confirmed. You’ll have 30 days to submit it.

For each Rebatee review, you’ll get 500 coins.

Copying the review to Amazon is optional. If you decide to do it, make sure it’s an unbiased opinion. The reward for the Amazon review is 1000 coins. One limit here: each member can submit up to 15 Amazon reviews per month.

how to earn coins on Rebatee

#3 Create A Video

Create a YouTube video about the product and submit a link to Rebatee for 500 coins credit. Be aware that by doing it, you give Rebatee the right to use your video for marketing and promotion purposes. Share your video on Facebook for 200 additional coins.

There are special Video missions that can pay you cash: unboxing, instruction or promotional video. The rewards depend on the quality of the video you produce and can range from $5 to $500.

Members have 20 days to complete the video mission after claiming it, otherwise, the video mission will expire.

#4 Refer Friends

Bring your family and friends to enjoy free products. You will receive $5 and 1000 coins for each friend who signs up and gets approved for the first purchase.

Are The Products On Rebatee Really Free?

Most offers come with a 100% rebate, but not all. It’s up to you if you want to check out products with 50%-95% discounts as well.

Two additional costs are taxes and PayPal fees.

The sales tax can be added to the price by Amazon, according to the tax rules in your state. The rules vary for different categories in each state. For example, New Jersey doesn’t charge sales tax on clothing, unprepared food, and medicine. Rebatee will NOT refund the tax amount, only the original price of each item.

The PayPal fees are not covered as well. As you can see from the example above, the fee can come up to about 5%-6% per transaction. I think it’s calculated as a fixed amount plus some percentage of the item’s price.

Is Rebatee Legit Or A Scam?

From my personal experience, Rebatee.com is legit, as it delivers exactly what it promises. You order the items you like on Amazon and pay the full price. Rebatee pays you back via PayPal after the seller confirms your order.

The first PayPal payment I’ve received is the proof I was looking for before writing this review and it arrived in time and with no issues.

Another thing that I like is that Rebatee’s customer service chat on Facebook has a real person who replies to your inquiries. Just take the time difference between the US and Hong Kong into consideration.

How To Make Money With Rebatee

I’m glad you’ve made it to this point. Here are the FOUR secret ways to MAKE money from getting free stuff:

#1 Join The Influencer Club

This is the in-house affiliate program. Refer new members to Rebatee and get a referral bonus of $5 and 1000 coins when the invitee completes their first purchase.

In addition, you will earn a commission from the purchases made by your direct and secondary invitees. The commissions can range around 3%-15% of the product’s price paid by your referrals.

#2 Amazon Prime Refunds

If you already have Amazon Prime account and Amazon Prime credit card, you are getting 5% cash back for all your Amazon purchases. Most of the items will also ship for free.

Other credit cards may offer some cashback as well, but usually less than 5%.

It means you’ll make money on some of the products you buy via Rebatee.com that are not taxed in your state. For example, I live in New Jersey and get all food-related products without paying any sales taxes.

For low-cost products, PayPal fees can be a bit higher than 5%, so the credit card cashback will only help cover these fees.

#3 Submit e-receipts to CoinOut app

The CoinOut app pays for ANY  receipt from the US, including e-receipts from Amazon. All you have to do is forward your email receipt to their customer service.

Read my detailed CoinOut review to better understand how it works.

#4 Submit e-receipts to Fetch Rewards app

The Fetch Rewards app pays for ANY grocery receipt from the US. You need to scan the receipts, the same as with CoinOut.

However, they also pay 2.5 cents for every electronic receipt and you can process all the receipts once in 7-10 days, so it requires less effort from you. The process is automated once you connect your email address. You only will need to tap on the blue button on the “Scan” screen.

Read my detailed Fetch Rewards review to better understand how it works and get my sign up code for free $2 for you.

Final Thoughts on Rebatee

The process of getting free stuff with Rebatee.com is very simple.

  • Chose the item from the list of available products
  • Buy the item on Amazon for its full price
  • Submit the order number to Rebatee
  • Get paid back on PayPal
  • Earn more coins from daily check-in and other activities

Check Rebatee out and you wouldn’t regret it.

Get free items from Amazon

Don’t be selfish – share this post with your friends and family! I’m sure they don’t mind some free stuff as well.

Similar Sites Like Rebatee – Get More Free Stuff!

There are more rebate websites like Rebatee.com that offer similar business models.

Rebate Key is the largest rebate site I know, with about 900-1000 listings opened at any given time. The process of getting rebates with them is a bit easier, as there are no coins you need to collect and no need to write any review.

You can order up to 50 items per month and get your refund by check or PayPal after 35 days. Read my full Rebate Key review here for more information.

Rebaid has the same process as RebateKey and doesn’t require reviews. It’s a newer site, so the selection of available items, especially with a 100% rebate, is relatively small. Some of the items are exactly the ones you can find on Rebate Key.

The third site I use, Extreme Rebate, has a broad selection of available items, including clothing, toys and more. The sellers on this site need to confirm each request from every user and they don’t approve all of the requests. It can be a bit frustrating. In addition, to get more requests, you are asked to review the products on Amazon.

Additional Ways To Get Free Stuff From Amazon

If you want to choose what to get from Amazon without paying for it with your credit card, there are several easy ways to get free Amazon gift cards.

Cashback Websites

Start your online shopping from Ebates or a similar website. Personally, I like TopCashback (read my full TopCashback review here). The rebate rates can go high up to 20%, but usually will be in the 2% – 10% range.

Both sites allow cashing out with Amazon gift cards.

Grocery Shopping Apps

I use six receipt scanning apps, making some money from any receipt, not only grocery. All of these apps offer Amazon gift cards as a payment option.

Ibottaprobably the most popular grocery shopping app that offers digital coupons and other perks.

Check out my Ibotta Review for more details.

Fetch Rewards – pays you for scanning any grocery receipt plus bonuses from participating brands. Yes, I wrote a review of Fetch Rewards as well, so you have all the information.

CoinOuta very friendly app that pays you for ANY receipt and has various partner’s offers, trivia and giveaways. You guessed right – here is my CoinOut review to make it easy.

Makeenathis is an app for healthy eaters. It offers rebates for buying organic (or actually any) fruit and vegetables. Makeena pays for any grocery receipt up to 3 times a week as well.

Personal Capital software

You need this great financial software to keep track of all your accounts. It’s FREE and you will get $20 Amazon gift card just for signing up and linking eligible accounts. Win-win!

Read more details in this Personal Capital review.

Paid Survey Panels

There are many survey websites where you can share your opinions and get paid for it. It’s not a full-time job but can make you some extra money in your spare time. Amazon gift card is a popular payment option on these sites as well.

Check out these 11 best survey sites for 2019.

Oh, now I get the whole concept behind Rebatee. It truly makes a lot of sense because new sellers on Amazon no matter how great their products are would find it so difficult to get their products to the top in their niches because Amazon favours those with larger number of sales and tons of good reviews.

I love the whole concept behind Rebatee and I’d love to be part of it considering the fact that there are so many ways to make money there plus I’ll be able to get free products and joining Rebatee is even free. Thanks for sharing this helpful review of Rebatee.

This is so cool! I heard about ebates and ibotta but never really knew how it worked, I’ve also heard of ways you could get stuff for free in amazon I’m going to tell my boyfriend, we love our amazon prime membership. I’m kind of tempted to start making review videos and sell through rebate now but first I want to try it out! Thank you for this information. Great article!

I’ve honestly never heard about Rebatee before but it sounds like a really cool idea. Even if there are some rebates that only offer a 50% rebate you’re still saving some money. I also liked your list of grocery shopping apps I hadn’t heard of them either but being a college student I’m always looking to same some money!

    Thank you for sharing 🙂

      Hi Sam,

I’m glad you find this useful. Why not get cool stuff for free? Even if you don’t need it yourself, many items can make a nice gift to someone.

I use probably 7-8 grocery receipts apps, as you can upload the same receipt to all of them. Try and see what works best for you.

Enjoy your free stuff and savings!

Wow! That was a very interesting read. I had not heard of Rebatee prior to reading about this. You offered a lot of information and detailed explanations, but I still found all of it slightly confusing. There was also an indication of multiple steps to take in order to acquire the rebates in most cases, is this correct?

Can you submit your receipts to more than 1 site?

Do you have to have a PayPal account for all of these rebate programs?

Is it mostly electronic and small items you receive a rebate for other than groceries?

How does someone determine the best apps to try?

      Hi Lorrie,

There are a few steps in the process, as I have explained. When you get used to it, the process is not complicated and is quite quick.

You cannot submit your order to multiple sites and they usually don’t even offer the same products.

You need PayPal for rebatee. With RebateKey I opted in to receive regular checks in my mail.

These sites rarely have edible products. They do offer many items, you need to come and check every site.

My favorite one is RebateKey, but why not try all the sites I’ve mentioned?

    Great article, Mary.

I’ve heard of companies sending people free stuff if they review products and have a good amount of traffic, but this rebate stuff is new to me. It’s one of those things that sounds super sketchy, but once you understand it, it’s not as bad as it first looks.

Rebatee seems like it would be worth some investing into. The coin model seems like a smart way to keep people from really exploiting the system while not being too restricting. It also seems that there are many ways to get coins.

Thanks for this informative article. I’ll definitely be keeping tabs on this one.

      Hi Isaac,

I was skeptical myself, but I’m doing rebates more than 9 months now and it works great.

My kids are happy to get new toys every month.

I’m glad you understand the reason Rebatee uses the coins. I’ve heard about many apps being abused by users.
